About me
I spent 24 years as a GP in Chirk, on the Welsh borders, after studying medicine at Cambridge and Birmingham.
After so many years of a challenging and responsible job I felt the need to be more creative and was inspired by attending a painting weekend run by Yorkshire artist Janet Flynn.
For two years I attended painting classes one morning a week, and then decided to take the risk of leaving status and security to devote myself full-time to art.
Initially my intention had been to become a painter. However by my third year I was working entirely as a sculptor, mainly in ceramics.
I finished my BA in Fine Art at Wrexham in June 2007.
A course in stone carving after I left college opened a creative door for me and I now work mainly in this medium and see this as the focus of my work in future. |
