About me
I spent 24 years as a GP in Chirk, on the Welsh borders, after studying medicine at Cambridge and Birmingham.

After so many years of a challenging and responsible job I felt the need to be more creative and was inspired by attending a painting weekend run by Yorkshire artist Janet Flynn.

For two years I attended painting classes one morning a week, and then decided to take the risk of leaving status and security to devote myself full-time to art.

Initially my intention had been to become a painter. However by my third year I was working entirely as a sculptor, mainly in ceramics.

I finished my BA in Fine Art at Wrexham in June 2007.

A course in stone carving after I left college opened a creative door for me and I now work mainly in this medium and see this as the focus of my work in future.
About my work
Outside Art is the name of my business.
My sculpture starts from natural forms, often the human body, and then develops a life of its own. My intention is for the pieces to be sited outdoors, although they could of course be exhibited inside. I work mainly in stone, the variety of which contributes its own characteristics to the sculpture.
